Token economies hold a wide variety of explicit and implicit missions. This aspect of the economy surpasses the base technical function. The mission defines the intrinsic motivation that drives people and organizations to build products and create value on top of one network over another.

The mission of an economy may be stated formally in a white paper (similar to a constitution) or more casually by sharing tokens with others who hold similar values.

Ultimately, the network mission comes from the narrative behind the economy. The actors involved, the way the token is distributed, the reason the project is created all plays into defining this narrative and resulting mission of a network.

Ethereum arguably is most successful due to the integrity of the mission.
